Alternate Options for Large and Irregular Waste
Posted on Dec 5, 2023 by admin_post
Per the waste ordinance change, December’s large/irregular garbage pick-up will be the last pick-up until April 2024. See below for alternate options to placing large items or refuse on the curb.
Re-use It
- Find a new way to use the item or find someone else who may have a need.
- Donate – Find an organization that has a need, or that accepts secondhand items in useable condition.
- Have a garage sale, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
- Use an online marketplace to sell or give away an item that can be re-used by others.
Recycle It
- Bring large items or debris to the Outagamie County Resource Recovery Park
Ask for Help
- Find a neighbor, friend, or family member who can help you properly haul/dispose of the bulk debris or bulk items at an appropriate disposal site.
- If buying a new item, ask if the delivery company can remove the old item for you.
- Contact a refuse removal company to rent a dumpster for remodeling projects or just to have them haul away single items.
- Buy a “dumpster bag” and work with a refuse company to remove the waste when you are done.
- If hiring a contractor, make sure they are planning to remove any waste material as part of your agreement; a contractor’s waste is not allowed to be placed on the curb at any time, even during scheduled pick-up weeks.
If all else fails, wait for it…
- Try to plan your DIY projects around pick-up schedules if possible or store the items in a garage or in your home until the next available City large and irregular pick-up date.
