PUBLIC PROTECTION AND SAFETY COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Public Protection and Safety Committee was called to order by Chairman Leon on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 7:26 P.M.

Members present: Leon, McGinnis, Penterman, and Roehrig.

Members present: Coenen, Collins, Driessen, and Meyerhofer, Mayor Rosin,
Atty. Davidson, DPW/Eng. Sundelius, Police Chief Manion,
Fire Chief Hirte, Fin. Dir. VanRossum, Planner Jakel, HR Dir. Vanderloop, St. Supt. VandenHeuvel, Asst. Chief Grindheim,
Rec. Dir. Malloy, Eng./GIS Spec. Neumeier, Sr. Proj. Eng. Strelcheck, and interested citizens.

1. DPW/Eng. Sundelius presented a map proposing traffic control signs in the Verbeten Subdivision, Haen Meadows Subdivison, and Second Addition to Fieldcrest Subdivision.

Motion by Penterman, seconded by Roehrig, to direct the City Attorney to draft the necessary ordinance authorizing the installation of Yield signs at 17 locations as shown on the drawings. All members voted aye.
Motion carried.

2. Discussion held on the CTH CE pedestrian crossing by the Kaukauna High School.
Engineering Department received a quote of $9,007 for a RRFB controller which would be similar to what we have on Crooks Avenue and CTH OO. A motion
activation button would be an additional $3,500 and would operate similar to what they
have on College Avenue.

Motion by McGinnis, seconded by Penterman, to install a RRFB controller at CTH CE by the Kaukauna High School at a cost of $9,007 with a stop and push button and ask
the Kaukauna School District to share ½ of the cost.
All members voted aye.
Motion carried.

3. Ald. Leon asked if the Engineering Department and the Police Department had a chance to look at the Haas Road/Kavanaugh Road area for speeding. They will look at and come back with a recommendation.

Motion by Penterman, seconded by McGinnis, to adjourn.
All members voted aye.
Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 7:38 P.M.
