Grignon Mansion Board Meeting Minutes – July 25, 2016

  1. Standing Business
    1. Roll Call
      1. Members Present: Mark Abel (Chair). Al Borchardt, Bruce Werschem, Lin Collins, John Brogan, Rick Pauls, Mary Vander Sanden.
      2. Members Absent: Genevieve Gara, Patti Porretto
      3. Other Present: Bob Jakel, Patty DeGoey
    2. Call to Order
      1. Chair called to order at 5:04 p.m.
    3. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes
      1. Under 1.d. – the balance is expected to rise “by” $8,984.39 in July. Under 3.a. – Board to start capital campaign shortly.
      2. Motion to approve the prior meeting minutes as amended by Werschem, second by Collins, motion carried unanimously.
    4. The Spending Authority Policy was reviewed by the Board and found to be in step with the Board’s prior action. Per Sub Item 7 Page 2, the Friends of the Grignon Mansion must also approve the Policy. Motion by Collins, second by Vander Sanden to approve and present to the Friends, motion carried unanimously. The Friends should also change their by-laws to reflect the Policy.
    5. Friends Statement of Income: Werschem reported $10,384 in the Friends account of which $2,400 are designated.
    6. City Update: City Engineer will provide a price estimate and bid by next meeting. The drop box was painted.
    7. Education and Events: DeGoey and Borchardt reported on the Civil War camp – as of July, there are 631 registered riders for the Mile of Music, and reminded everyone of the vintage car show on August 14th. The 1000 Islands may have an arrow head collection for the Grignon. More to follow.
    8. Building and Grounds: The blacksmith shop may have a concrete floor for stable footing and to place equipment. The floor could be textured to “look” compatible with natural ground.

Motion to Collins, second by Pauls to adjourn at 5:30 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
