Kaukauna Veterans Memorial Park Association Meeting Minutes – April 29, 2015


Wednesday, April 29, 2015 – 4:00 PM
Council Chambers

A meeting of the Kaukauna Veterans Memorial Park Association was called to order at 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, by President Rosin.

Members Present: Mayor Gene Rosin, Brian Roebke, Lisa Wolfinger, Brenda Leon, Karen Koch.

Absent:    Fred Cazzola, Mark Landreman, Troy Hanson, Andréa Meulemans, Eugene Schaefer.

1.    A motion was made by Leon to approve and place on file the minutes of March 26, 2015. Seconded by Roebke. All members voted aye. Motion carried.

2.    Discussion of 2015 Memorial Day ceremony:

  • Hanson reported that the High School band is lined up for the Memorial Day service and will play four songs. They will travel to the Veteran’s Memorial Park after they finish playing in Sherwood.
  • Closing of Catherine Street – Mayor reported that the Police and Street Departments are aware that Catherine Street will be closed for the Memorial Day service. The CSO will be present with the PD van and the Street Department will barricade the Lawe Street intersection. Mayor spoke with Peggy from Expera and she is aware that the intersection will be closed and will instruct the wood yard and haulers to use Lawe/Wisconsin Avenue to the lift bridge.
  • Mayor spoke with the Fire Department Union representatives. They will be available to assist those in need at the ceremony.
  • Hanson obtained permission from Breitbach/Dragosh to use their lot for parking.
  • Mayor contacted Pat Vandenheuvel and Tim Clark, Street Department, and they will provide extra picnic tables, benches, and some portable bleachers for extra seating.

4.    Kiosk for Map –There was discussion regarding the purchase of a kiosk to hold a map of the Ring of Honor which would be used by visitors to locate bricks in the Ring of Honor. The Street Department will install the kiosk at no cost to the Association. (There is approximately $12,400 in the fund at the current time, and the cost of the kiosk is less than $2,000.) A motion was made by Roebke, seconded by Wolfinger, to have KVMPA purchase a kiosk to house and display a map of the layout of the Ring of Honor. All members voted aye, motion carried.

    (Since the April 29, 2015, meeting, a kiosk has been purchased. Cost was $1,951.50.)

    Other Business:

    Clean-up at the Park will be done the day before the ceremony (mowing, etc.) Kwik Trip recently finished landscaping the terrace and the sod has been installed next to the Ring of Honor.

    A motion to adjourn was made by Mayor Rosin at 4:40 p.m., seconded by Roebke. All members voted aye. Motion carried.
