Welcome

Update – 05/14/21

In following the Outagamie County Public Health department guidelines, our mask requirement at City of Kaukauna buildings, effective immediately, has ended.

We recognize that while the incidences of COVID-19 transmission have been substantially reduced, please be aware that risk of contracting COVID-19 or an emerging variant remains.  The City of Kaukauna recommends that all staff and visitors of public facilities adhere to CDC guidelines as applicable to their individual circumstances.

We will continue to follow the safety precautions below:

  • Utilizing online services, phone, and email correspondence prior to visiting in-person.
  • Plexi-glass dividers at all public facing counters.
  • Social distancing measures via marks on the floor.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at most locations.
  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing of City buildingsfocusing on all high-touch surface areas.

In accordance with CDC recommendations:

  • If you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.
    • In general, people are considered fully vaccinated:
      • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
      • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine
      • If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated. Keep taking all precautions until you are fully vaccinated.

Update – 05/03/21

Effective Monday, May 3rd, 2021, City buildings and facilities will reopen to the public. It has been over a year since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and with positive cases trending downward and vaccine distribution reaching the masses, we feel it is time to make a step towards our ‘normal’ way of business. Even though our doors will be open during regular business hours, we still prefer that the general public would make an appointment when meeting with City staff. For a directory of City Departments and contact info, click here.

The City of Kaukauna falls under jurisdiction of the Outagamie County Public Health Department, and will therefore continue to follow the current mask order (both staff and the general public entering our building). This emergency order is in place until further notice. Further details available here.

Please continue to utilize online services, phone, and email correspondence prior to visiting in-person.

Safety precautions in place as we re-open City buildings:

  • Plexi-glass dividers at all public facing counters.
  • Social distancing measures via marks on the floor.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at most locations.
  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing of City buildings, focusing on all high-touch surface areas.
  • Continued mask wearing.

Update – 10/16/2020

DO YOUR PART – LET’S STOP THE SPREAD

CITY OF KAUKAUNA MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS TO CLOSE MONDAY, 10/19/2020

*except to voters

From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our focus and priority has been, and continues to be, on the health and safety of our employees and residents of the City of Kaukauna.  We recognize the role we can play to help protect the health and well-being of our staff and our community by following the guidance of county and state health officials and the CDC.

Due to the widespread increase of COVID-19 in our area, effective Monday, October 19, 2020, the City of Kaukauna Municipal Services Building (MSB), 1000 Islands Environmental Center, and the Street, Park, and Rec (SPAR) Building will close their doors to the general public until further notice. The Kaukauna Public Library will remain closed. The MSB will be open, however, for in-person early voting ONLY (which begins Tuesday, October 20). The MSB and the SPAR Building will be open to voters ONLY on Tuesday, November 3 for election day. All City services will continue as normal; for assistance, please visit our website or call or email the appropriate department.

It is difficult, as a leader, to implement these measures when we are striving to build community, not divide and isolate.  And, like you, I am eager to get back to open doors, open recreation and community gatherings, prospering businesses, and all the things we were able to enjoy prior to the onset of the pandemic.

I am reaching out to the community – residents, visitors, and businesses in the City of Kaukauna – to ask for everyone’s help in combatting this pandemic that we are still living with.

We are experiencing an alarming surge of positive cases in Wisconsin, in the Fox Valley and right here in the City of Kaukauna – your families and your neighbors are getting sick, and the daily death toll continues to rise. Businesses are shuttering, not because of government mandate, but loss of employees and loss of customers.

My hopes are that we can come together and do better for the good of all. I am asking everyone to do your part; so our schools can get back to functioning, so our hospitals are no longer overwhelmed, so families can see their loved ones in long-term care facilities, so businesses can open their doors, so we can all get back to a sense of security and normalcy.

We are all tired of having our lives interrupted by this pandemic, but we cannot let our guard down, and we cannot sustain the path we’re on if we don’t contain the spread of this disease.  I’m calling on all of you to take personal responsibility and please follow the health guidelines – wear a mask in public, maintain social distancing, wash your hands, stay home if you are sick.

I am also calling on local businesses to act responsibly in the conduct of your workplaces and facilities – only you can control your business environment and help stop spread amongst your employees, your patrons, and all those they come in contact with.

We all want this to be over, but in times of crisis, we need to take action. Please do your part!

-Mayor Anthony J. Penterman

Updates as of 07/21/20

“From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our focus and priority has been, and continues to be, on the health and safety of our employees and residents of the City of Kaukauna. Therefore, effective Wednesday, July 22nd, face coverings will be required when inside any city-owned building/facility for all employees, as well as visitors, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We recognize the role we can play to help protect the health and well-being of our staff and our community by following the evolving guidance of health officials like the CDC. We as a City cannot afford to let this virus wipe out any of our departments, especially police, fire, streets and/or our utilities. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our employees and visitors in wearing face coverings to protect their safety and the safety of their fellow neighbor.

As a reminder, we ask residents and other visitors to please first consider using our website or calling the appropriate department for assistance. We offer many options to serve residents’ needs without making an in-person visit. Please note that person-to-person meetings between the public and staff are available by appointment only. Please call the appropriate department to make arrangements.

Thank you, Kaukauna, for doing your part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.”

– Mayor Tony Penterman

For visitors entering a City-owned building/indoor facility, please see these guidelines.

“It was the right decision for businesses and citizens, now we can get past the politics of government mandates, and focus on education and common sense in adhering to CDC and WEDC guidelines so we can get back to doing what we do SAFELY. It would be a shame to see a spike after all the sacrifice and hardship we’ve all endured to keep a lid on this contagion – let’s be the great, free citizens of Kaukauna, USA, and let’s be safe.”

-Mayor Tony Penterman

On Wednesday, May 13th, the WI State Supreme Court struck down Governor Evers’ Safer at Home Order. However, on Thursday, May 14th, Outagamie County Public Health Division issued a local Safer at Home Order, which mirrors the State’s former Orders (Safer At Home, Badger Bounce Back, and Turn the Dial), effective at 8:00am on May 14, 2020. The City of Kaukauna is required to follow authority of the county and enforce the Safer at Home Order. The full Order can be found here. And the press release from Outagamie County can be found here.

We recognize that residents and businesses are anxious to move beyond these restrictions, however, we are mandated by law to follow the order of the Outagamie County Public Health Officer.

As stated in the press release from Outagamie Public Health Division, this Order has been established to slow the spread of COVID-19.  Please continue to follow CDC and DHS guidelines for staying healthy and preventing the spread of the virus.
