Effective Thursday, June 1st, 2023 some City facilities will implement summer hours to provide more flexibility and work-life balance for as many staff as possible, while still providing great service to our residents. Facilities implementing summer hours include the Municipal Services Building and the Street, Park, and Recreation (SPAR) office.

Municipal Services Building and SPAR office hours will be as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday – 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • Friday – 7:30am – 11:00am

While this new summer schedule does provide more flexibility for staff, it also allows residents the opportunity to take care of business in the early AM hours. Since COVID, many City services are available online. The most common online services include disposal site renewals, building permits, recreational program registrations, and most City fees (dog licenses, parking tickets, etc).

“We recognize the need to be more available to our residents. Though we will be closing at 11:00am on Fridays, opening earlier each day at 7:30am gives our residents more time to visit us for those in-person needs prior to their workday starting,” said Mayor Tony Penterman. “Employees’ total work hours will not change, but promoting and encouraging the well-being of our staff is critical when it comes to recruitment and retention.”

Summer hours at the Municipal Services Building and SPAR office will start on Thursday, June 1st and run through Wednesday, September 6th. These adjusted hours do not affect police and fire services (Police Department lobby hours remain M-F, 8:00am – 4:30pm). Other municipal facilities, including the Library and 1000 Islands Environmental Center, will not be implementing summer hours at this time.
