This work will take about 2-3 weeks to complete.
The City Street Department 920.766.6337 will conduct collection on the recycle containers while access is limited for collection equipment. Businesses and tenants will be able to keep their carts in their normal collection areas. City staff will remove carts to service in a safe accessible location and return when emptied. Collection will happen every other Friday during construction.
Lake Shore Recycling has been contacted and will resume service when alleys are cleared for their equipment.
2-24 W. Tobacnoir Street Area Utility Relay
- Carl Bowers Construction – Will be on site next Thursday, May 16th to dig down to the Water Mains at the intersection of Blackwell Street and Division Street to provide temporary water service to properties that require it during construction. They will test the water for cleanliness before hooking houses up for use. The main part of the construction will begin Monday, May 20th, and next week’s update will specify the work to happen that week. You will also notice traffic cones and barricades arriving next Tuesday/Wednesday. These will be set up when road work begins.
- WE Energies – WE Energies will be starting their gas replacement project in the neighborhood.
DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.
- If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.
WORK ZONE SAFETY – While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.
* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER *
Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
