Project 2-23 Utility Relay – Week of 07/31

Construction will be commencing next week, and will get quite busy the week after that. Click here for proposed work locations and possible impacts to residents for the week of July 31^st (Page 1) and information related to the Crooks Avenue/4^th Street Intersection closure during the week of August 7^th (Page 2).

Park Street, Klein Street, 4^th Street, & 5^th Street Areas (July 31^st to August 4^th):

CONSTRUCTION – Scott Lamers, the private lateral contractor, will be starting their work on 5^th Street by Crooks, and working toward Hendricks Avenue. If this work is being done to your property, the contractor will have contacted you and set up times to complete the work in your house. Carl Bowers, the Prime Contractor, will be moving Equipment to the site on Friday, and will begin working on 4^th Street the following week.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road on 5^th Street while the contractor is performing their work. They need room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily and quickly complete each property. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.

• If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

Crooks Avenue/4^th Street Intersection Closure (August 4^th to August 11^th):

See Page 2 of attached drawings for details related to the closure of the Crooks/4^th Intersection outside lanes. The anticipated work schedule is as follows:

• Friday, August 4^th – On Friday, Barricades will be placed in Crooks Avenue at the 4^th Street Intersection. These barricades will block the outside travel lanes while the road is saw cut in anticipation for work taking place the following week. Upon completion of sawing, road will be cleaned, and barricades will be removed from the street for the weekend, leaving it open to traffic.
• Saturday & Sunday, August 5^th & 6^th – Road Open to Traffic for the weekend.
• Monday & Tuesday, August 7^th & 8^th – Barricades will be reinstalled as shown in the drawings first thing Monday Morning. The Sewer Contractor will then begin removing concrete and excavating for the work they need to complete. They will work on this Monday and Tuesday.
• Wednesday, August 9^th – The Concrete Contractor should be on site to grade, prep, and pour the roadways back in place. This concrete should cure in 24-36 hours.
• Friday, August 11^th – When the new concrete has reached its desired strength, barrels and barricades will be removed from the intersection and it will be opened to traffic.

WORK ZONE SAFETY

While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

Utility and Street Construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, equipment, and workers everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy, and getting to your residence will be difficult at times.
