This week the paving contractor fine graded the 9th/10th alley and the 8th/9th alley (east side). The paving contractor paved a final mat on the 7th/8th alley and the 6th/7th alley between Kenneth Avenue and Eden Avenue. The paving contractor paved a lower asphalt mat on the entire 6th/7th alley. Project map here.
WEST ALLEYS BETWEEN 6TH/7TH & 7TH/8TH AREAS:
CONSTRUCTION
The pavement contractor finished paving the 7th/8th alleys on September 28th. The paving contractor paved a lower mat of asphalt on 6th/7th alley on September 28th, along with a final mat between Kenneth Avenue and Eden Avenue. The final asphalt paving on 6th/7th might take place in the next 2 weeks . Another notice will be sent when we get a date for paving. – The concrete contractor might be pouring the alley aprons and sidewalks, that were removed, in the next 2 weeks. The new concrete will be closed off for 7 days while it cures, but there will be one alley end open to get in and out.
EAST ALLEYS BETWEEN 10TH/9TH, 9TH/8TH & 8TH/DODGE AREAS:
CONSTRUCTION
The concrete contractor has to pave curb radii at the end of the Dodge/8th alley. They might do this work in the next week or two. The fine grading on September 26th. The paving contractor might be paving these alleys in the next 2 weeks. The concrete contractor replaced the alley aprons and sidewalks along Boyd Avenue. The ends with new concrete will be closed for 7 days, but there will be one alley end open to get in and out.
DRIVEWAYS/PARKING
Access to your driveway will be restricted when construction is happening on your alley. The contractor performing the work uses large machines, dump trucks, and needs ample space to store needed items for the work being performed. Please find an alternate parking space while the work is taking place. You may park on the street in front of your house. Driveways will be closed until the stone has been placed and graded. Construction normally begins by 7:00 am each day.
- If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange for different parking options if we know about them. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all for parking and the fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done and finish the neighborhood.
SAFETY
While work is taking place, the alleys will be closed to traffic. Please do not try to drive down the alleys while excavation and stone placement is taking place, there will be large equipment and dumps moving around. Please keep children away from the construction. Operators try their best to see what might be near the equipment, but their view can be obstructed at times.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER*
Utility and street construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, and construction equipment everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We ask for your patience and understanding as we make the necessary improvements to your street and utilities. Do not hesitate to contact the City with questions or concerns, we can’t help if we don’t know. Contact Jeff Bodoh, Project Engineer, at 920.766.6305 or [email protected] with any questions.
