Road Construction Updates – Week of Sept. 2-6

1-24 Concrete Street Paving Project

The contractor will be hand pouring concrete in the open areas of the paved streets the week of September 3rd.  Most of these areas are in intersections were the 2 street need to be connected and it is easier and more accurate to do manual concrete pours then with the machine.  There are a few areas that were tight for the machine, these areas will also be manual hand pours.  You will need to find alternate routes when the hand pours take place and for 7 days afterward while the concrete cures and hardens.

The alleys will be open to traffic.  The intersection of Metoxen and the alley between Ninth Street and Tenth Street will be closed for roughly seven days while part of this intersection is manually poured.  One lane of traffic will be open to traffic after the first lane paving.  After the hand pours are done, the contractor will grade the driveway openings and crosswalk ramps for the driveway apron and sidewalk work. Schedule could change due to weather or Contractor’s other project obligations.

3-24 Concrete Alley Paving Project

The contractor will be excavating and placing stone on the Second/Third Street Alley between Crooks Avenue and Reaume Avenue.  This work will include tree removal, decorative wall removal and brick paver removal in the Third Street Pedestrian Alley.

– On garbage days while this work is taking place, the Street Crew will move bins and dumpsters to the public parking lot and pick up garbage there and then return the bins and dumpsters.

-Vehicles can still be parked in the public parking lot at the intersection of Third and Main, you will need to enter and exit onto Third Street.
