CONSTRUCTION – The contractor will start the trimming and fine grading work on Eighth Street.  They will be setting a string line for the lanes they will be paving this coming week for the trimmer and paving machine.  Later the week of August 12th, the contractor will pave the the list of streets below.  While the contractor is working on a street, the street will be closed to all traffic.  The contractor will notify you before this work starts.  Please find alternate parking while this work is taking place.  You will not be able to drive on the new concrete for 7 days while it is curing and strengthening.  The contractor will trim, grade and pave the other side of the Streets once the first lane lane is open to traffic.

List of Streets and lanes the contractor will be working on:

  • Eighth Street -north side -Pave Friday the 16th
  • Ninth Street – north side – Pave Friday the 16th
  • Tenth Street – north side -Pave Monday the 19th
  • Spring Street Eight to Alley both sides -Pave Thursday the 15th

  • Metoxen Avenue – east side – Pave Monday the 19th

One end of each alley will be open to traffic.  One lane of traffic will be open to traffic after the first lane paving.

Kenneth Avenue/Third Street Area:

  • The work is complete, and the street is open to traffic.

Arthur Street Area:

  • The week of August 12th, the paving contractor will be milling the remaining concrete in the street, fine grading the gravel and paving an asphalt mat on Arthur Street.  The asphalt paving contractor will also pave the areas where the sidewalk was removed with asphalt pavement.
  • Arthur will be closed for about a day after the paving is complete, so please find alternative parking.

Project 2-24 Update:

  • Northeast Asphalt – Has an opening in their schedule. They are going to bring their mill to the job site and begin milling and prepping all remaining streets for pavement first thing tomorrow morning. They will mill as much as they can tomorrow and complete anything that remains next Wednesday. They plan to pave these areas next week Thursday and Friday (August 15th and 16th). All grading and final work before paving will be addressed next week Monday – Wednesday.
  • Carl Bowers ConstructionWill work on preparation items on site early next week for paving.
  • Scott Lamers Construction – Will be offsite for a few weeks. They will come back to the project site to complete all remaining private work when they are available.
  • Brandon Bowers Construction – Will resume grass restoration upon completion of asphalt paving.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

WORK ZONE SAFETY While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER  *

Utility and Street Construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, equipment, and workers everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy, and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We understand that it can be frustrating while it happens, but we ask for your patience and understanding as we make the much needed improvements to your street and utilities. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
