Posted on Jun 21, 2024 by

1-24 Concrete Street Paving Project

The sewer contractor has started the storm sewer work on Eighth Street at Crooks Avenue working towards Quinney Avenue. The contractor will continue to mill the asphalt on Quinney Avenue, Metoxen Avenue and Ninth Street next week.  On Tuesday the milling machine broke down, it is currently in the shop.

2-24 W. Tobacnoir Street Area Utility Relay

  • Carl Bowers ConstructionPlan to have 2 crews on site next week. One of the crews will be working on replacing the Sanitary Sewer Main on Desnoyer Street between Brothers and just north of Tobacnoir. If they are able to finish this entire stretch next week, they will get started on replacing the Water Main on Tobacnoir. The second crew will be focusing on Public Laterals/Services on Brothers Street and Desnoyer Street as shown.
  • WE Energies  WE Energies will continue working on their gas replacement project in and around the neighborhood as shown on the attached map.
  • Northeast Asphalt Plans to come to the job site on Wednesday, June 26th to begin prepping streets for pavement. They will be working on the Brothers Street Cul-de-sac block, Kaukauna Street, Division Street between the RR Tracks and Desnoyer, and Blackwell Street. They figure it will take Wednesday and Thursday to get these street prepared for paving, with the actual paving operation to take place on Friday, June 28th. Once the fresh asphalt is placed, please allow it time to cool and strengthen before driving on it. It is placed at temperatures well over 200°F and gains it’s strength during the steam-rolling compaction and cooling process. Please ensure all vehicles are off of the road for this work. They use large equipment to remove any remaining asphalt and to shape the gravel the way we need it to be for paving. They will begin work each morning at approximately 7:00am.

5-24 Kenneth Avenue Utility Relay Project

Kenneth Avenue/Third Street Area – The work is complete, and the street is open to traffic.

Arthur Street Area – The contractor will continue replacing sanitary sewer from about 450 feet southeast of Lawe Street to Green Bay Road.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

WORK ZONE SAFETY – While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

*  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER  *

Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
