Road Construction Updates – Week of June 17-21

Posted on Jun 14, 2024 by

1-24 Concrete Street Paving Project

The tree removal contractor will be finishing up tree removals and stump grinding on Friday.  The general contractor may start pavement milling on Friday, but most likely will be doing this work on Monday.  The sewer contractor will be starting the storm sewer work the week of June 17.
Update:

The Contractor for Concrete Street Project is pulverizing all the streets in the Quinney Avenue, Metoxen Avenue, Eighth Street, Ninth Street, Tenth Street and Spring Street area.  The pulverizing will take 2 days to complete.  The contractor will be grading out the pulverized asphalt so people can drive on the streets.  There will be a few hours between the time they pulverize the asphalt and grading the pulverized asphalt that people won’t be able to drive on the street.

All streets should be graded, and residents will be able to get to their residence at the end of the work day. Garbage and recycling pick up will take place as usual, no changes this week.

2-24 W. Tobacnoir Street Area Utility Relay

  • Carl Bowers ConstructionWill most likely have 2 crews on site again next week. One of the crews will start the week by finishing whatever is remaining of sewer main work on the 500 block of Desnoyer. After that they will be constructing a new water main throughout Desnoyer Street, as well as in the 100 block of Brothers Street. The second crew will be working on public side sewer and water laterals on the 200 block of Brothers Street.
    • Underground work should be pretty well wrapped up on the cul-de-sac block of Brothers, all of Kaukauna Street, Division from the RR tracks to Desnoyer, and Blackwell from Division to Tobacnoir. We will allow the roads to sit as gravel to settle out for a few weeks before the paving contractor comes to the job site to place the asphalt overlay on the completed areas.
  • WE Energies – WE Energies will continue working on their gas replacement project in the neighborhood as shown on the attached map. They should be getting close to completing the first phase of their project. They may move to another section of the job this week.
  • Northeast Asphalt – Plans to be on site the week of June 24 to begin paving operations for the project. They will be paving areas where underground utility work has been completed.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

WORK ZONE SAFETY – While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

*  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER  *

Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
