1-24 Concrete Street Paving Project
The Contractor will be setting up traffic control signs and barricades on Monday June 3rd. They will also be installing erosion control in the storm inlets. Tree removal and stump grinding is scheduled to start on Wednesday June 5th. Tree removal will take about 1-1/2 weeks to complete.
4-24 Alley Storm Sewer Project
- Second/Third Street Alley Area – The Electric Utility will start line work in the alley between Crooks Avenue and Main Avenue the week of June 3rd. The Electric Utility’s saw cutting contractor will be saw cutting the pavements going to each building service on Wednesday, June 5th. Kaukauna Utilities will start installing the underground electric lines thereafter. This work may take six to eight weeks to complete. The alley will be closed while the work is taking place. The Utility will try to have the alley open when they are not working in the alley. On garbage days while this work is taking place, the Street Crew will move bins and dumpsters to the public parking lot and pick up garbage there and then return the bins and dumpsters.
The City Street Department 920.766.6337 will conduct collection on the recycle containers while access is limited for collection equipment. Businesses and tenants will be able to keep their carts in their normal collection areas. City staff will remove carts to service in a safe accessible location and return when emptied. Collection will happen every other Friday during construction.
Lake Shore Recycling has been contacted and will resume service when alleys are cleared for their equipment.
2-24 W. Tobacnoir Street Area Utility Relay
- Carl Bowers Construction – Will have 2 crews on site next week. Between the 2 crews they plan on finishing Sanitary Sewer on Blackwell Street (between Division and Tobacnoir) and Brothers Street (between Kaukauna and Desnoyer), as well as Water Main on Division Street (between Railroad Tracks and Desnoyer) and Blackwell Street (between Division and Tobacnoir). Depending on how quickly construction moves along and if the weather cooperates, one of the crews will begin working on Public Side Lateral replacements on Brothers Street (between Kaukauna and cul-de-sac) and Kaukauna Street (between Brothers and Division). This would be the portion of the laterals that is covered by the City. They will dig from the main line utility in the roadway to the sidewalk.
- WE Energies – WE Energies will continue working on their gas replacement project in the neighborhood as shown on the below map.
DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.
- If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.
WORK ZONE SAFETY – While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.
* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER *
Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
