Project 2-23 Update – Week of October 9th

Posted on Oct 9, 2023 by

Click here for proposed work locations and possible residence impacts for the week of October 9th.

Park Street, Klein Street, 4th Street, & 5th Street Areas:

CONSTRUCTION :

  • Scott Lamers will NOT be on site next week. The will return to the project the week of October 16th, and will remain on site until their work is complete. They have quite a few houses to finish yet. Their excavation should only occur in the areas outside of the roadway, avoiding the need to remove any new pavement.
  • Carl Bowers has completed the majority of their work. They will have a crew on site next week performing restoration to lawns and grassy areas. They will dig down enough to place new topsoil, then grass seed and fertilizer. Once restoration has occurred on your property, please water it regularly and allow it to grow a bit taller before cutting it for the first time. The more established your grass is now, the better it will come in next year. There will be some properties that do not get permanent grass seed placed this year. Those areas will be restored early in the spring of 2024.
  • Northeast Asphalt has completed the first phase of their work on site. They plan to be back for the remaining areas starting October 26th. This waiting period allows the sewer and water trenches to settle out prior to placing asphalt. Gravel roadways will be maintained by the contractor until final paving is complete.

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please keep an eye on your street while the contractors are performing restoration nearby. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily and quickly complete their respective work. Park in your driveway if possible, or far enough away from their work zones.

  • If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

WORK ZONE SAFETY

While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER*

Utility and Street Construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, equipment, and workers everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy, and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We understand that it can be frustrating while it happens, but we ask for your patience and understanding as we make the much needed improvements to your street and utilities. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
