I-41/WIS 55 interchange long-term closure begins Monday in Outagamie County

Closure part of Kaukauna urban reconstruction project

(Kaukauna) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces upcoming traffic impacts as part of the WIS 55 (Delanglade Street) Reconstruction Project in Outagamie County.

Upcoming traffic impact: I-41/WIS 55 interchange, Outagamie County

• The I-41/WIS 55 interchange in the city of Kaukauna will CLOSE for 90 days beginning Monday, July 30. Traffic will not be able to exit I-41 or enter I-41 at WIS 55. I-41 will remain open to through traffic. The closure is to construct roundabouts at the I-41/WIS 55 ramp intersections.
  
  • Detour: WIS 55 will be detoured via County OO to County J to County JJ.
    
• The WIS 55/Gertrude Street/Maloney Road intersection and Gertrude Street/Maloney Road will also close Monday, July 30 for reconstruction.
  
  • Note: Gertrude/Maloney Road will be open within the first 40 days of the 90-day interchange closure start.
    

Construction began in mid-March of this year and is scheduled to finish in late October 2018. The project includes:

• Reconstructing WIS 55 from Lawe Street through the I-41 interchange ramps
  
• Constructing roundabouts along WIS 55 at County OO, Maloney Road/Gertrude Street, and the I-41 northbound and southbound ramp intersections
  
• Realigning the Lawe Street intersection and adding traffic signal
