KONKAPOT TRAIL BRIDGE OPENING TO PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC ON FRIDAY, 1/20/17

The second Konkapot Trail bridge was set this afternoon by Zeise Construction and will be open for pedestrian traffic on Friday January 20, 2017 .

The concrete abutments have developed enough strength to support the bridge structure and pedestrian traffic.  However, vehicular traffic should be kept off the bridge until further notice.  Concrete cylinders were cast and will be tested for strength at 28 days and that will give us an indication of the concrete compressive strength.    That information will be used to determine when the bridges can be opened to light vehicular traffic and you will be notified when that occurs.

The load capacity of both of the new bridges will be 20,000 lbs.   There is a stamped load rating on each end of each bridge indicating this information.
