MAYOR’S UPDATE

Posted on Oct 19, 2016 by

Hi, Everyone! There has been a lot going on in Kaukauna recently!  Here’s an update on some of the projects currently in the works:

  •  Island Street Bridge re-decking and railing replacement is nearing completion. The bridge will be open to traffic in early November.
  • The Council took action to send a letter to the Island Street Bridge contractor telling them that the bridge project must be completed by Election Day on November 8.  Downtown traffic volume is anticipated to increase for election day. Council desires to eliminate as much traffic congestion from the bridge closure.
  • WE Energies is completing the new gas line in Wisconsin Avenue. Traffic has resumed on a majority of the completed portion.
  • Concrete is being poured on the rebuilt section of Gertrude Street between High Street and to a point 500 feet west of Delanglade Street (STH 55). This project should be completed by the end of November.
  • The Veteran’s Memorial Lift Bridge has been raised and inspected by Lunda Construction Co. This will provide them with the basis for time schedules and equipment needed to rehab a bridge that has not been in service for 20 years.
  • The historic water wheel that is located in the spillway of the Navigational Canal across from the Grignon Mansion has been removed by Krause Construction and is being rebuilt as part of an Eagle Scout project.
  • The solar panels have been placed on top of the new Municipal Services Building and Police Department building. There are 248 panels on the roof, each rated at 325 watts. The total system peak output is rated at 80.6 kilowatts. The yearly output is forecasted around 90,000 kilowatt hours, which would be enough energy for approximately 100 average households. The Kaukauna Municipal Services Building is the most energy efficient municipally-owned City Hall in the State of Wisconsin.
