Grignon Mansion Board Meeting Minutes – May 23, 2016

  2. Roll Call:

    i.Members Present: Mark Abel (Chair), Genevieve Gara, Al Borchardt, Patti Poretto, Bruce Werschem, Lin Collins

    ii.Members Absent: Mary Vander Sanden, Richard Pauls, John Brogan

    iii.Others Present: Bob Jakel, Patty DeGoey

b. Call to Order:

    i.Chair called the meeting to order at 5:08 pm

c.Approval of Prior Minutes:

    i.In the February Minutes, the Elks not the Lions donated the money for the 4th grade bus tours.

    ii.Mr. Werschem moves to approve prior minutes, Ms. Poretto seconds, motion carries.

d. Administrative and Finance Committee Report – John Brogan:

    i.No finance report yet.

ii. The Board is still waiting for the final review of the Spending Policy.

iii.Cash management and spending policies are being drawn up by the Friends for themselves

and have not been approved yet.

iv.Final draft of the Agreement is being revised by the City.

v.Mr. Werschem requests that raffle tickets be included in the Agreement under what the Friends

are allowed to sell.

e.Friends Statement of Income-Bruce Werschem:

    i.$970 balance at the end of April; the Boy Scout check has not come through yet, the invoice

was sent out and roughly totalled $521.

f. City of Kaukauna Update – Bob Jakel:

    i.The street crew will look at the Mansion’s well and decide if it should be repaired or filled in.

They will also examine the porch floor boards and check the grounds for other damages.

g. Education and Events – Al Borchardt:

    i. Quinney students will be doing community service work Thursday.

    ii.On June 8th the Kimberly City Band is playing at the Mansion to celebrate Augustus

Grignon’s birthday. KARMA has also asked the Friends put up a booth for their Hydro Park

event.

    iii. On June 11th, there will be wood carving, candle making and bus tours.

    iv.$580 was spent on buying a grill at Carson’s, the store also donated $100 to go towards

utensils and gas.

v. In July there will be a Civil War reenactment, and 3 day cares will be touring the Mansion.

h. Building and Ground Committee – Richard Pauls:

    i.The City is inspecting the grounds as previously mentioned.

    ii.The garden is being worked on by volunteers.

    iii.The stones around the fence will be moved.

    iv.The porch steps need to be repainted. Cops Construction did them with the rest of the house

last summer, the Board is not sure if there is a year long warranty but it will be looked in to.

II. Old Business:

a. Mr. Werschem is concerned about where the Friends’ funds would go should something happen to

the Mansion and grounds. Mr. Jakel will look into the matter.

b.Insurance for the Friends needs to be discussed.

c. The cellar stair project dropped off the radar. A contractor will be hired to take care of it, and

quotes will be in shortly. The plans are already drawn up, measurements need to be

finalized.The Friends will pay for the remodeling, but the City does have to approve it because

the Mansion is city property.

III. New Business:

a. Next meeting – June 27th, 5p.m. at the Mansion

b.Mr. Abel makes motion for adjournment, Ms. Collins seconds it, motion carries unanimously.
