Notice: Smoke testing the sewer systems on Wilson Street Thursday, Sept. 10

The City of Kaukauna will be smoke testing the sewer systems on Wilson Street on Thursday, September 10, starting at 9:00 AM. People traveling in the area may see plumes of smoke caused by the testing in places such as: cracks in the street, residential yards, sewer manholes, or roof vents on houses.

Smoke testing is the process of injecting artificially produced smoke into a blocked-off pipe segment to see where the smoke emerges. The smoke is not harmful to people, pets or house plants. It is not flammable and does not create a fire hazard. Crews will knock on doors prior to testing to notify residents of the testing and what to do if they notice any smoke in their homes.
