Construction Updates for the week of July 13-17
1-26 Concrete Street Paving Project
Monday, July 13 starting at 5:00 PM, the sewer lining contractor will be lining the large storm sewer in Hendricks Avenue, from the alley north of Ninth Street to Tenth Street. The sewer lining contractor will be working Monday and Tuesday nights, when it is cooler. The heat that is forecasted for next week causes the resin in the sewer liner to set up quicker, making it harder to do the sewer lining. The noisier work should be done by 9:00 PM, after that it would be the sewer lining crew just doing routine pressure and temperature checks of the water or steam in the new sewer liner. Hot water or steam at pressure is used to push the liner against the existing sewer walls and to cure and harden the resin in the liner.

2-26 Wisconsin Avenue Area Utility Relay
Utility replacement will begin next week on this project. Please see the below map showing work locations and possible impacts for the week of June 29th. There will be no work on Friday, July 3rd for the holiday weekend, and crews will have the job site straightened up by the end of Thursday.
- Carl Bowers & Sons – Will have 2 crews on site all next week.
- Crew #1 – Will start the week by completing the remaining sewer lateral and water service replacements from the road to the sidewalk on Idlewild Street. Once they complete this, they will be starting water main replacement on Wisconsin Avenue. The water main here will be just outside of the road pavement on the south side. The road will be open, but it will be congested with the necessary equipment to complete the work. Please plan accordingly for travel and/or parking.
- Crew #2 – Will also start the week by working with Crew #1 to finish lateral replacements on Idlewild Street. Once complete, this crew will work to replace the short section of Sanitary Sewer Main that runs from Idlewild to City Limits along with the few laterals that are serviced here.

7-26 Ann Street & Main Avenue Utility Relay
- Feaker & Sons – They will continue utility replacement next week. Starting Monday they will continue with Sanitary Sewer Main replacement between Sullivan and Hendricks working from west to east. They will also be constructing a sewer line from Hendricks Avenue toward Welhouse Drive. Once these sections are complete, they will move down between Glenview Avenue and Parkwood Drive to replace the sewer main here working from east to west. These sewer lines are not nearly as deep, and progress should move along a bit quicker.

General Notes
DRIVEWAYS/PARKING – Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street.
- If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.
WORK ZONE SAFETY – While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.
* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER *
Utility and Street Construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, equipment, and workers everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy, and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We understand that it can be frustrating while it happens, but we ask for your patience and understanding as we make the much needed improvements to your street and utilities. Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
