Construction Update – Project 7-26 Ann Street Utility Relay

Andrea Fencl
June 03, 2026

The Ann Street Utility Relay project will be starting next week Monday, June 8. Work will begin with the setting up of traffic control cones, barrels, and barricades on Monday. Concrete saw-cutting will start on Tuesday, and continue through the week to prep for excavation. Sewer and water replacement is expected to begin the week of June 15.

Ann Street will be closed during construction. Driveways on Ann Street should be accessed by the side street closest to your residence. The plan is to work from west to east along this project in a pattern that makes sense for the work to progress appropriately. Updates will be provided on a weekly basis for the duration of the project. Below is a map showing the signs and barricades for this job (click the image to increase the size). These signs and barricades will be moved around throughout the life of the project to provide accurate traffic control at any given time with the specific work being performed.

CONSTRUCTION :

  •  Hard Rock SawingWill be sawing concrete pavement starting Tuesday, June 9 along areas where roadway will be excavated for utility work and continue throughout the week.
  • Warning LitesWill be setting up Traffic Control cones, barrels, and barricades on Monday, June 8.
  • Wisconsin Land SurveyingWill be setting wooden stakes needed to accurately perform the utility work starting on Monday, June 8. Please do not touch these stakes once they are placed, as they provide a means for the workers to measure and complete their work.

General Notes

DRIVEWAYS/PARKING Please do not park on the road while the contractor is performing their work in the area. They need plenty of room for their trucks and equipment to be able to easily, quickly, and safely complete their work. Park in your driveway if possible, or on the nearest side street. Driveways will be open at the end of each workday.

If you need special accommodations for parking, please reach out as we can arrange different parking options. This includes anyone with disabilities, recent surgeries, expecting mothers, and mothers with newborns that have appointments. Unfortunately, there is no “one size fits all” for parking and property access. The fewer cars that the contractor has to work around, the faster they can get the work done on your block and move on.

WORK ZONE SAFETY While driving through the construction site, be sure to travel slowly and keep an eye out for equipment. This not only cuts down on dust, but also keeps the construction workers safe. Operators try their best to see traffic, but their view can be obstructed at times. It is always best to try and gain eye contact with equipment operators prior to driving by. You may need to wait at times before driving by depending on the work being performed. Please be patient during construction.

* PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WORK AND SCHEDULE CAN CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORSEEN CONSTRUCTION DELAYS. THESE UPDATES ARE TO AID THE COMMUNICATION PROCESS AS WE ALL WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN A TIMELY MANNER *

Utility and Street Construction is not easy. There will be dirt, mud, dust, equipment, and workers everywhere. Construction activity will be noisy, and getting to your residence will be difficult at times. We understand that it can be frustrating while it happens, but we ask for your patience and understanding as we make the much needed improvements to your street and utilities. Please do not hesitate to contact our Engineering Department with any questions or concerns. We can’t help if we don’t know.
