Mission Statement
The mission of the City Clerk is to serve the public by providing information and assistance. Duties are performed as required by State Statutes, care and custody of the corporate seal and all papers and records of the City. Administer oaths and collect municipal funds.
About the City Clerk
This office is responsible for maintaining the official records of the City of Kaukauna. The Clerk responds to official correspondence, prepares agendas and minutes for committees, commissions, and boards, attends council meetings and maintains records of proceedings. This office maintains and updates the ordinance book, resolutions, issues and maintains records for licenses and permits, collect fees, collect taxes, and administers elections.

Notary Public service is available at the Clerk’s Office. Please bring along a driver’s license or identification card. Please note: We are unable to notarize wills or provide witnesses.

Elections and Voter Information
2025 Elections
- February 18 (7:00 AM – 8:00 PM): Primary Election (vote at the Municipal Services Building only)
- April 1 (7:00 AM – 8:00 PM): Spring Election
- Please note: Absentee ballots for all existing absentee requests will be going out March 11 and in-person absentee voting goes from March 18 – March 28 at the Municipal Services Building during normal office hours. There will be no in-person absentee voting or registrations the day before the election.
Two polling locations for the Spring Election April 1:
- Aldermanic Districts 1 & 2 – vote at the Municipal Services Building located at 144 W. 2nd St.
- Aldermanic Districts 3 & 4 – vote at the Street, Park and Recreation Building located at 207 Reaume Ave.
- Use the District Map if you’re unsure of where to vote for the Spring Election.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absentee ballots must either be mailed or you can stop in the Clerk’s office and vote in person at the office. You cannot stop in the office and pick one up. A request must be received for an absentee ballot. Ballots are available approximately three weeks before an election. A photo ID is now required. Absentee ballot request form available at www.state.wi.org.
You can register to vote in the Clerk’s Office, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, or on election days at the polling place. You must have some form of identification which shows your current address (proof of residence) such as a driver’s license, I.D. card, or a current bill with your address.
The City Council consists of eight alderpersons- two for each aldermanic district. One alderperson is elected from each aldermanic district each year for a two-year term.

The City consists of 17 wards. The portion of the City in Outagamie County is Wards 1 through 11 and Wards 13 through 15, and the portion of the City in Calumet County is Ward 12. Check out the Ward Map.
This depends on the election.
Smaller primary elections will only be held at the Municipal Services Building located at 144 W. 2nd Street.
For larger elections like the Spring Election (every year) and General Election (every two years) there are two election locations:
- Aldermanic Districts 1 & 2/Wards 1-5, 16 – vote at the Municipal Services Building located at 144 W. 2nd St.
- Aldermanic Districts 3 & 4/Wards 6-15, 17 – vote at the Street, Park and Recreation Building located at 207 Reaume Ave.
You can use the District Map & Ward Map if you’re unsure of where to vote during large elections.
Kaukauna is a City of the Third Class.
You must provide proof that your dog received the rabies vaccination. Dog licenses are available at the Clerk’s office. Fees are as follows:
- $5.00 for spayed/neutered and microchipped
- $15.00 for spayed/neutered and not microchipped
- $10.00 for unspayed/unneutered and microchipped
- $20.00 for unspayed/unneutered and not microchipped.
If license is not obtained by April 1st, a $5.00 late fee is assessed.
The City of Kaukauna has the Mayor/Council form of government.
The City’s contracted Assessor places the assessment value on the property. If, after talking with the Assessor, you do not agree with the assessed value, your next step is to complete an “Objection Form.” This form must be filed before you appear at the Board of Review meeting. The meeting is usually scheduled during the month of May (call the City Assessor or the Clerk for additional information).
