2026 Spring Election Notice

The following officers are to be elected:

1. A Mayor, for the term of two years, to succeed Anthony Penterman, whose term will expire on April 21, 2026.
2. A City Attorney, for the term of two years, to succeed Tim Greenwood, whose term will expire on April 30, 2026.
3. An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Jennie Eggleston, Ald. Dist. No. 1, Wards 1, 2 and 3, whose term will expire on April 21, 2026.
4. An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed John Moore, Ald. Dist. No. 2, Wards 4, 5 and 16, whose term will expire on April 21, 2026.
5. An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Mary Jo Kilgas, Ald. Dist. No. 3, Wards 6 and 7, whose term will expire on April 21, 2026.
6. An Alderperson, for the term of two years, to succeed Marty Schumacher, Ald. Dist. No. 4, Wards 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17, whose term will expire on April 21, 2026.
7. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a Special Election for a Municipal Judge, to complete the unexpired term vacated by John Proffitt, who resigned in June 2025.  The Common Council appointed Tim Hufschmid to temporarily serve in this role until a Special Election could be held.  The elected judge will serve the remainder of the term, which expires on April 30, 2028.

Nomination papers

The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2025, and the final day for filing nomination papers in the office of the City Clerk is 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Each candidate will need to complete the following documentation:

• Campaign Finance Statement: CF-1 Registration Statement Fillable

Important dates to remember

• Monday, December 1, 2025 – First day for candidates to circulate nomination papers for 2026 Spring Election.
• Friday, December 26, 2025 – Last day (5 p.m.) for incumbents not seeking re-election to file Declaration of Non-Candidacy with the City Clerk.
• Tuesday, January 6, 2026 – Last day (5 p.m.) for candidates to file nomination papers with the City Clerk.
• Tuesday, February 17, 2026 – Spring Primary (if required).
• Tuesday, April 7, 2026 – Spring Election.
